DESCRIPTION:Beginning Breastfeeding Online will help you prepare to breastfeed your baby. \nIn addition to empowering you with the knowledge and techniques needed to get started\, it also connects you to free unlimited breastfeeding resources from La Leche League and into a community of breastfeeding families. \nIn pregnancy many of us focus on the birth and prepare well. Breastfeeding is often perceived as a logical next stage after the birth which is meant to come easy as it is ‘natural to breastfeed’. \nAs is with the birth\, giving breastfeeding good thought and preparing for it before the arrival of the baby can empower and help see any hurdles that may arise along the way exactly as that: challenges that can be overcome with care and support. \nAims: To enable mothers to feel positive and encouraged that they and their babies have the ability to breastfeed\, to enable fathers/partners to feel positive about their ability to support the breastfeeding pair. \nLearning Outcomes \nParticipants will be able to: \n1. Have an understanding of how milk is made and how breastfeeding works. Be able to tell if the baby is getting enough milk\, and how to prepare for postnatal checks at home. \n2. Understand how to establish and protect milk supply if the baby is not yet ready to breastfeed; know where to find reliable help for breastfeeding challenges. \n3. Demonstrate a range of breastfeeding positions with a prop. \n4. Identify evidence-based sources of information and support and know what to expect as normal newborn behaviour.
