Energy-saving and heating advice
Access to grants, funding, and local support
Throughout Baby Week this November, the charity will host a series of community events and engaging workshops, focusing on:
- How cold and damp homes affect baby health
- Home energy advice and energy-saving tips
- Local services and grants available for families
- Wellbeing support and management for parent
This year’s theme of ‘Healthy Parent, Healthy Baby’ brings together the work of The National Energy Foundation and Baby Week to create safe and healthy home environments.
Alison Vickers, Director of Operations at NEF, said: “A warm, safe home is essential for the comfort, health and development of children. At Better Housing Better Health, we’re proud to be working with Baby Week to raise awareness for fuel poverty and help families to access the vital support they need including home energy saving tips and grant funding advice.”
Cold and damp homes can increase the risk of respiratory problems, sleep disruption and stress. This can all impact on the health and well-being of a household, including a baby and a parent.
Better Housing Better Health offers support to make homes healthier, from improving insulation to promoting energy efficiency. By providing free and impartial energy advice and resources, BHBH is working with Baby Week to help parents raise their baby in a warm, safe home. The collaboration represents a shared vision – to give every baby the best start in life as Baby Week celebrates their 10th anniversary

The journey
“What began as a handful of events with Child Friendly Leeds has now blossomed into over 1,000 activities across the UK,” said Sadiya Salim, Partnership Coordinator at Child Friendly and Director for Baby Week.
National impact
It’s no longer just a campaign – it’s a collective commitment. Every year, families, professionals, and communities come together to reaffirm that the early years are a national priority. I’m proud to lead this initiative and see how far we’ve come hosting a national conference.
Better Housing Better Health (BHBH) is a longstanding service working to reduce the number of people in fuel poverty and improve domestic warmth & wellbeing, coordinated by the National Energy Foundation. The experience teams provide free, confidential, and tailored solutions to meet a home’s specific circumstances including switching energy suppliers, maximising income, signing up to the Priority Services Register and accessing essential funding.
