Sunderland Baby Week

Lead by Sunderland Family hubs, we are excited to bring Baby Week to Sunderland for our first year in 2024.  We want to ensure that every child in Sunderland has the best start in life through shining a spotlight on the first 1001 critical days with our partners, families and professionals.  We know the first 1001 days are a unique period for a baby that sets the foundations for lifelong emotional and physical wellbeing we will spend baby week showcasing support, advice, activities and Sunderland’s commitment to the best start in life.

I am delighted that Sunderland Family Hubs are participating in National Baby Week. This week shines an invaluable spotlight on giving all babies the best start in life while ensuring parents are supported through what is a magical, yet sometimes challenging, time.

A baby’s early weeks, months, and years are key to their development, from attachment and trust to physical growth and social skills. As they say, babies don’t come with a manual, and each is unique in their journey from baby to toddler, young child, teenager, and adult. Therefore, it’s vital that as a society, we support families to nurture healthy, positive adults of the future.

In Sunderland, our five Family Hubs are committed to offering the best activities, events, and support for families with children aged 0-19, or up to 25 for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Our ambition is to ensure that local families can access the right support, at the right time, in the right place, with the right people. Our Family Hub teams are dedicated, friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Whether it’s offering a supportive environment for breastfeeding mothers, helping babies and their parents relax and bond through baby massage sessions, or providing a fun play space for toddlers to explore, learn, and make friends, Sunderland Family Hubs are the closest thing to a baby manual that you can get!
